  • Operation and Maintenance: Participants were trained on the effective use and upkeep of John Deere tractors and other mechanized equipment tailored for conservation agriculture.

  • Crop-Specific Techniques: The training covered specialized equipment usage for maize, sorghum, and bean crops, emphasizing methods that align with conservation agriculture principles.

Broad Participation and Strategic Collaboration

The workshop was attended by a diverse group of participants, including the technical team from Tierra Saludable Ameyalli (TSA) and representatives from various strategic organizations such as:

  • CENTA (Centro Nacional de Tecnología Agropecuaria y Forestal)

  • ENA (Escuela Nacional de Agricultura)

  • Iniciativa Horizontes Guatemala

  • John Deere’s authorized dealer in El Salvador

This wide-ranging participation highlighted the collaborative effort to promote sustainable agricultural practices across the region.

Promoting Sustainable Agricultural Practices

The training marked a pivotal moment in advancing sustainable agriculture in El Salvador and the surrounding region. Key highlights and outcomes included:

  • Demonstration Plots: Plans were made to establish plots that would demonstrate the capabilities of the new mechanized equipment, serving as practical examples for other farmers and stakeholders.

  • Data Collection: Focus on gathering data on organic matter incorporation, which is crucial for enhancing soil health and productivity.

  • Expansion of Mechanized Practices: Emphasis on expanding the reach and adoption of mechanized conservation agriculture practices, preparing TSA to cultivate more hectares using these advanced techniques.

Future Directions and Impact

TSA is dedicated to further expanding its operations by implementing more hectares of crops using conservation agriculture practices learned during the workshop. This initiative is expected to lead to significant improvements in efficiency and landscape-friendly farming practices, contributing to the overall goal of sustainable agricultural development in the region.

A Milestone for Regional Agriculture

This workshop represented a major step forward in equipping agricultural professionals with the skills and knowledge necessary to lead sustainable change. By promoting efficient and environmentally friendly agricultural practices, the workshop helped lay the foundation for a more sustainable and productive agricultural landscape in El Salvador and beyond.

Through the combined efforts of Synergy Resource Solutions, CRS, TSA, and other partners, the workshop highlighted the importance of continuous learning, innovation, and collaboration in achieving sustainable agricultural goals.
